A.T.J.C. Submission to the Inquiry into Youth Justice Centres

Painting by Joshua Maxwell de Hoog

On Thursday 13 April 2017 the A.T.J.C. made a submission to the Inquiry into Youth Justice Centres.

Our submission called for the closure of both Parkville and Malmsbury youth detention facilities; the immediate removal of young people from Barwon Prison; the need to invest in intensive decarceration strategies, and the promotion of youth voice and participation as integral to an empowerment model of governance.

The report is due to be tabled in Parliament on 1 August 2017.
